IKEA Recalls High Chairs

A voluntary recall has been issued by IKEA stores in regards to all LEOPARD high chairs that pose a fall and choke hazard for infants. “The company said the snap locks used to secure the seat to the frame can break and allow the seat and child to drop through the frame, posing a fall hazard to children.” Along with these hazards, an infant could choke on the snap locks that are on the high chairs. The recall includes all LEOPARD highchairs (regardless of color). There have been 11 reports of injuries that include one serious incident of a child falling through the frame, resulting in bruised legs. Also, one infant has been reported to have been mouthing on one of the snap locks that became detached from the high chair. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in the United States. Consumers are warned to immediately stop using the high chair and return to any IKEA store for a complete refund due to the hazards that the high chair posed on many infants.
